When does wrestling season start and end?
Wrestling season begins Tuesday, November 12th and will continue through the top of March when the California USA Wrestling State tournament takes place.
When are wrestling practices?
Practices will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 - 8:30 pm and on Saturday mornings from 7:30 - 9 am.
Where will wrestling practices take place?
Practices will take place at The Edge Martial Arts studio in Santa Clarita.

When are wrestling tournaments?
USA/CAGWA Wrestling tournaments take place on weekends and mainly on Sundays. There are about a dozen tournaments throughout the season with both beginner and advanced divisions. Tournaments are not mandatory and each athlete can decide which tournaments they would like to attend.
What are the weight classes?
Below is a link to the standard USA wrestling weight classes. If your child is above the weight standards, the tournaments will still look to pair them with other kids in their weight class or alternatively they will offer them the opportunity to move up to the next age division where their weight class is offered.

What team do I register my child for? Please see the Age & Weight Limits Page to determine the best fit for your child based on their age and size.
When do the Fall 2024 Games begin? First game for all ages is August 24th.
What is Jamboree? GCYFL Jamboree will be held early August 10th, 2024. This is a day of 2 or 3 "mini" games each team will play in order to be rated by the GCYFL officials in order to create the schedule of games and identify teams in either the National or American Leagues.
What items will my child need to purchase to play? Your child will need a mouth guard, football cleats, practice football pants, girdle with pads (including knee pads), water bottle/jug and football cup (optional).
What items will my child receive with registration? Conditioning camp shirt and shorts, helmet, shoulder pads, jersey, game pants.
When is age determined by for the upcoming season? Age is determined for the 2024 season based on how old the child is by July 31, 2024.
How much does it cost to play football for the season? Registration is $650 for your first child. There is a $100 sibling discount. This fee includes not only all equipment, camp gear, and game gear but also fields, referees, and medics at every game.
Can I wear my own helmet? Yes, helmets must be paint color Riddell Navy Metallic 002735.
What conference do we play in? We are a member of the Gold Coast Youth Football League (GCYFL). The GCYFL is regarded as one the most organized and best youth football conferences in the country.
When are weigh-ins for the fall season? Mandatory weigh-in date is August 3, 2024.
What are the requirements for practice time? The conference rules mandate that a child must condition for at least 10 hours before putting on full gear. During the first 10 hours, players are permitted to wear helmets at the chapters discretion. A child must wear full gear for an additional 10 hours before they can have full contact with another player. However, contact with bags is permitted during this time. These rules are in place to protect your children and their teammates that line up next to them.
Can we take a family vacation or miss days after camp begins on July 15, 2024? Tackle football is a team sport and a big commitment. It is highly encouraged that your child does not miss any practices during conditioning camp in July and August. We want your child to take advantage of all the practices to maximize their potential as well as keep them safe and prepared to play.
Do I need to provide a birth certificate? Yes, if your child is new to the GCYFL your child will need to provide a official birth certificate (original and not a photocopy). The birth certificate will be returned to you after your child's age and weight have been certified by the GCYFL officials.
Does my child need to have a physical to be able to play? Yes, your child will need to submit a signed and stamped GCYFL physical form in order to play. This form can be found under "Forms" above on our site.
Does everyone get play time? Yes the GCYFL has a mandatory 12 play rule for every player.
What is the refund policy? No refunds.

When does the 2024 Season begin? Our 2024 season begins with “Spring into Cheer” on April 15-19, 2024. This one week will consist of 5 days of camp, M-F from 5:30pm-7:00pm. After that, regular season practices will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30pm-7:30pm, beginning August 6th.
When do the Fall 2024 Games begin? First game for all teams is tentatively scheduled for August 24, 2024.
What items will my child need to purchase to cheer? Your child will need to purchase a cheer uniform which consists of shell, skirt, jacket, body liner, spankies (briefs), socks, and all white cheer shoes. They will also need to purchase 2 sets of pom poms. Ordering information will be provided
What items will my child receive with registration? Practice shirt & shorts, regular game day bow & October Breast Cancer bow, and rental of cheer box. Also includes field & lighting fees, supplies, liability insurance, individual & team photos, and trophy.
